Do you think it would be acceptable to blog about the fact that we have to blog for AP English class? Probably not, but I will do it anyway. I actually really enjoy writing in this style. I've been told by peers and teachers alike that in my writing you can hear my speaking voice. Some say that's good, but when I'm required to write an essay for an AP exam or a research paper, my sarcasm or my "voice" that comes through, makes me sound silly and unintelligent about the topic at hand. In a blog, if you didn't write with some sort of voice how completely boring would that be? So, there's my speel on why I like writing blogs as a required assignment, but now I will vent on the only part of blogging that I don't like. I don't know what to write about!!! I mean, right now I'm blogging about blogging, and let's face it, that's pretty lame. I like having the freedom to write how I wish, but it would be really nice to have more of a guideline or had more suggestion of a writing topic. I'm struggling to keep writing about subjects that I have to come up with on my own. (Maybe that shows how uncreative I am as a person?) Other than those few things, I think blogging is awesome and it kind of makes me want to blog outside of class too. Well, I probably won't, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't not like to!
Your previous readers are correct. Your voice is there. And it's okay to use your voice in more formal writing, you just wanted to adjust your tone to a more academic, objective level.
ReplyDeleteAs far as topics, if you really are at a loss as to what to blog about, hit me up and I'm always full of possible reflections.
