Today Jake Sanchez had this great idea that I blog about Mr. Stoltz and I thought that was a great idea. I've had many student teachers over the years. Some were just fine. I wasn't too impressed, but they weren't the worst either. With some of them it was very obvious they had no business working with students. The rare few I found were very knowledgeable about their subjects and genuinely showed they liked to teach kids my age. Mr. Stoltz I strongly believe to be the latter one. He had previous knowledge of the book we are reading and ran the class discussion well. What impressed me the most was at one point, he offered up a question he had about the book. I can't tell you how many teachers I've had that think they know everything there is to know about the subject matter. He was open to the student's ideas and rolled with what they had to say. If a student asked a question and he didn't know the answer, he admitted it. While we were reading out outside independent reading books, he looked up the answers to the questions he didn't know. Also, he genuinely seemed comfortable standing in front of the class and leading us in discussion about the book which, I'm not going to lie, was somewhat of a shock because most of the time he just sits in the corner in class and types away on the computer. He's funny and intelligent and the students that he teaches in the future are going to be very lucky to have him. I think he'll do great and I can't wait till he teaches another lesson for us!Also, might I add, he's a ginger and that's baller.
